Associate Professor, Coordinator of the Virtual Learning Environments Program at the University of the Republic and Co-responsible for the Interdisciplinary Nucleus on Open and Accessible Educational Resources at the University of the Republic, Uruguay.
She holds a PhD in Equity and Innovation in Education from the University of Santiago de Compostela, a Master’s degree in University Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Educational Communication option, from the University of the Republic.
She is an active member of the National System of Researchers of the National Agency of Research and Innovation (ANII) of Uruguay, in the area of Social Sciences-Communication and Media.
Her lines of research encompass the study, development and adoption of educational technologies in higher education contexts, with emphasis on the area of Open Education.
She has led numerous national and international research projects, with funding from the European Commission, AECID, CYTED, FRIDA, ANII, CSIC, among others. These led to the development and dissemination of educational technologies and open and accessible education initiatives in Uruguay and the Ibero-American region.
She is a member of the Open Education Advisory Board of the Open Education Working Group of Open Knowledge International, is a member of the LATAM OEC Regional Node of the Open Education Consortium and is part of the coordinating group of the Latin American Community of Learning Objects and Technologies (LACLO).
