The UNESCO Chair in Open Education is located in the Nucleus of Informatics Applied to Education – NIED, at the University of Campinas – Unicamp, Brazil. It was officially inaugurated in 2014.

We conduct research and develop software, instructional materials and courses and support organizations and groups interested in open education (OE) and open educational resources (OER), with a focus on/about basic education and teacher professional development.

We are part of the Open Education Initiative, where most of our resources, courses and other materials (most often in Portuguese) are available, in one central location. We work together with other UNESCO, ICDE e COL Chairs in OER and Open Education. The Chair is associated with our Open Education Research Group  (CNPq).

Basic site information is available in three languages (Portuguese, Spanish, and English), though most postings are only presented in Portuguese.
